Backup and Disaster Recovery

Are you prepared?

That dreaded moment occurs – a ransomware demand appears on your workstation “Pay 200 bitcoins to release your files”. Have you backed up? Do you know how to restore your files if you have backed up?
Backing up your files is one of the very few ways to recover from a  ransomware attack. And yes it does happen to small businesses. We have had 2 organisations approach us for for help after being attacked – and you guessed right – neither of them had a backup.

What happens in a disaster?

Even worse than the above. What happens if your whole network and systems go down for an extended period? What happens if your warehouse catches fire or a key employee goes on extended sick leave? Do you have contingency plans in place to see your business through a major incident?

Business continuity planning aims to anticipate major incidents that could affect your business and prepare a response for a number of different scenarios.

Our capability extends from developing a business continuity plan and the related policies and processes, designing the most appropriate backup solution for you, implementing the technology, through to  recovering data from a damaged hard drive.

  • Backup

    Backing up your data has always been an important aspect of IT management but is now  a critical component in enabling your business to recover from a data breech or cyber attack

    There are a considerable range of data storage and backup options available, including:

    * Backup to local hard drives
    * Backup to a remote server
    * Using a cloud service such as OneDrive, Dropbox or Google Drive as your primary file store
    * Using a cloud service for back up, such as Autotask or Acronis Backup and Recovery Software

    But you need to choose the one thats right for your business.

    Thats where we come in!

  • Business Continuity

    Bad things happen - there's no getting away from it. The art of good business management is to ensure you have a plan and know how to react when those unexpected things happen.

    Our approach to business continuity planning is to:

    * Work through a checklist to ensure you have all the basics of business continuity in place;

    * Conduct a Business Impact Analysis to identify the consequences of “Critical Impact" disruptions to the business - i.e. financial or reputational loss that could endanger the survival of the company;

    * Perform a Risk Assessment to identify the risks / hazards to the business and actions to mitigate key risks; and finally;

    * Develop a Business Continuity Plan – what to do if a disruptive incident occurs including a specific cyber security incident response plan.

"On moving house we required help of PAAC to coordinate a tablet, PC and laptop with new security and email addresses and to ensure transfer of old contact details etc. Some of this work was undertaken by Darren in the Midhurst shop and some at our new address. Darren was professional and helpful with successful results. PAAC also followed up with care to ensure that all was well. "

"I have been dealing with PAAC IT, mostly in their Midhurst Office, but also in Haslemere, for the past three or four years. They clearly understand Macs and have given me good advice, and sorted out various issues for me. Things did go wrong with the network wireless adapters I had bought from them, but they were quick to ensure they were checked and replaced without a problem, and they followed up with me a month later to ensure all was OK. That’s good customer service!"

I have received first class service on each and every occasion – from keeping my ancient computer running, to advising and supplying a suitable replacement when it eventually crashed. All my transactions have been with the team in the Haslemere shop where Richard, Mark, Darren and Oliver have addressed my computer difficulties with great patience and kindness. To them I am eternally grateful."
